Multiage classrooms are one of the special features of the YCS elementary program. In the Lower Elementary class, focus is placed on the building blocks of language arts and mathematics to develop strong interdisciplinary skills that students carry with them.
Upper Elementary (Grade 3-5)
The strong foundations that students develop in Lower Elementary carry over into the Upper Elementary years at YCS. Students can apply their strong language and mathematics skills to science, social studies and Bible classes and truly begin to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Enrichment Program
At Yokohama Christian School, all students participate in enrichment classes – from age 2 to grade 5. Art, music, physical education, and the joy of reading are all important parts of a well-rounded education and we wish for all of our students to enjoy and explore.
Special Events
Special events are a time for the YCS community to come together to celebrate. Throughout the pandemic, we have found ways to celebrate the gifts that we have been given as a school as much as possible. We also look forward to re-introducing events as we move forward as it is safe to do so.
Clubs
Clubs or extracurricular activities make a school unique from others. YCS provides a variety of clubs to address different interests of our students. The full program of club activities is announced at the beginning of each academic year.
