Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
I feel so blessed to welcome the new year that God has brought!
One day when I was driving from Kannai area to Minatomirai, I noticed there was a new
building I had never seen before. Seemingly lower floors are used for offices and higher
floors are for residences. Thinking to myself “wow, whoever lives there must be very
wealthy, but it must be very convenient being close to all the nice shops and offices.”, I
looked up and noticed a room with a shoji-screen all ripped. As I was gazing, I started
feeling sad. Being wealthy enough to live in a fancy place does not ensure your
happiness. Of course, people who live in the room could just be very happy but don’t
have the time to replace the screen. But this incident reminded me about the obvious
fact that wealth does not fulfill all our needs. Money is very very important, but you can
still be miserable even if you are a billionaire. Luke 4:4 says,
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
Yokohama Christian School will have Day of Prayer on March 5 th , an annual event that
advances Christian education through prayers. Leading up to the event students will be
engaging in related activities schoolwide. So, I want to start this year with a prayer. I
pray this new year will be a time for all of us, all staff, students, their families and friends
to learn and know more about God, His Word, and His love that provides everything we
need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you
the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
