What is Fall Family Festival??

The next big family event at Yokohama Christian School is Fall Family Festival. Since the name is not necessarily self-explanatory, I’d like to give you a little background on why we celebrate in November at YCS.

Fall Family Festival is based on the biblical Festival of the Booths, which was a celebration and thanks for harvest and family. We have it near the end of November each year, on a public holiday, so that families can attend this event together.

The first portion of the day students and their families are assigned a group and move around to different classrooms throughout the school doing fun activities together with other families. This time allows families to get to know one another (fellowship), while also having fun.

Around lunch time, the potluck meal, and celebration, will begin. Turkey, mashed potatoes, and cranberries are provided by the school. Each family is asked to bring a dish that can feed your family plus 5 people. Yokohama Union Church families are also invited to join us for the potluck celebration.

On Fall Family Festival day, families and children are asked to arrive together at 9:30am and come directly to the sanctuary.

We hope that this helps everyone to understand what Fall Family Festival is and why we celebrate!
